Lot 53:
Description
A collection of vintage beaded costume necklaces in a wide array of colours and materials. The lot features a diverse spectrum of tones including cobalt blue, turquoise, emerald green, and deep burgundy. The materials comprise moulded glass, lucite and plastic. Notable pieces include a strand of light blue glass beads decorated with pink floral millefiori style lampwork details, a faceted iridescent aurora borealis coated glass bead necklace, and a strand of flat, dyed green discs.
The assortment also includes graduated beaded necklaces in opaque and translucent plastics, turquoise-coloured moulded beads featuring scarab or floral patterns with silver-tone spacers, and a modernist lime green and white marbled plastic necklace with large oval and disc-shaped beads. Multi-strand pieces are present, including a three-strand green seed bead necklace and a three-strand faux pearl necklace. The items are constructed with base metal chains and clasps in silver-tone and gold-tone finishes. Small white adhesive labels are present on two items, one reading 1.10 and another reading 1.50, alongside a plastic coin bag bearing the Midland Bank name and various coin denominations.
Condition report:
The necklaces appear to be in good vintage condition overall. Minor surface wear and light scratches consistent with age are visible on some of the plastic beads (photo 1). Tarnish is present on several of the metal clasps and spacers (photo 3). One green beaded strand in the upper right quadrant of photo 1 shows signs of loose or tangled threads.
