Description

A collection of British numismatic and philatelic items, including seven blue vinyl folders titled Britain’s First Decimal Coins. Each folder contains a set of early decimal coinage issued by the Royal Mint, comprising denominations from the half penny to the ten new pence. The lot also includes a Credit Suisse style gold-coloured bar in a protective acrylic case, bearing the text CREDIT SUISSE, ONE OUNCE FINE GOLD 999,9, and ESSAYEUR FONDEUR. A boxed commemorative crown is present in a red presentation case with a white satin lining.

The philatelic section comprises several Royal Mail First Day Covers, including a 1996 New Definitive Values set and a 2011 Thomas the Tank Engine commemorative set. Additional items include a Daily Mail commemorative Queen’s Coronation coin card, a First World War Commemorative King’s Shilling card, and a King Charles III commemorative card. The group also features an enamel pin badge depicting a Supermarine Spitfire and several loose coins in plastic pouches, including copper-toned and silver-toned examples. One pouch bears a white adhesive label reading The Pi Hut with a barcode and the number 104260. A small velvet pouch marked Westminster and www.westminstercollection.com is also included.

Condition report:

The collection appears in good overall condition. The blue vinyl decimal coin folders show minor signs of handling but remain intact (photo 2). Some loose copper-toned coins exhibit natural surface toning and minor oxidation (photo 3). The philatelic covers are generally well-preserved within their protective plastic sleeves, showing only minor edge wear to the paper (photo 4). The commemorative crown in the red case shows typical surface patination (photo 1). The gold-coloured bar is sealed within its protective case (photo 3).
