Description
A portable Alba TR 10 combined television and radio receiver. The unit features a silver-toned and black textured plastic cabinet with a top-mounted carrying handle and an integrated telescopic antenna. It is equipped with a 5-inch (13.5 cm) black and white CRT screen, shielded by a prominent black plastic sun hood. Control features include push-buttons for brightness and contrast on the top panel, with dials for volume and tuning situated below the screen alongside a three-band radio dial covering FM, Medium Wave (MF), and Long Wave (LF).
The rear of the unit is fitted with a socket for a mains power lead, a 12V DC input, and an external aerial socket. A battery compartment is provided for nine HP2 (D-cell) batteries. The casing bears several printed marks including ALBA TR 10 to the front and top, and an adhesive rear label reading ALBA ELECTRONICS LTD. BULL LANE, LONDON N18 1SD. The label further specifies MODEL NO. TR 10 and MADE IN HONG KONG. An additional adhesive quality approval sticker is present on the rear. The lot includes the original cardboard shipping carton, which is printed with the manufacturer’s name, model number, and technical specifications.
Condition report:
The electronic unit appears in clean cosmetic condition with only light surface dust and minor scuffs consistent with age (photos 1 and 2). The screen and control dials show no visible damage (photo 1). The original cardboard box shows significant wear, including creasing, surface tearing, and staining (photos 1 and 5). Functionality is untested. The mains power cable is not pictured. As an analogue television, this unit requires a digital converter box to receive modern broadcast signals.
