Lot 19:
Description
This lot comprises an assortment of decorative objects and militaria. The group includes a large, cylindrical brass artillery shell casing, showing a dark brown aged patina with scattered surface oxidation and white mineralization marks. Accompanying the shell is a hand-carved wooden bust of a male figure, featuring a textured head covering and stylised facial features. The lot further contains two pairs of gold-tone enamel cufflinks in their respective presentation cases. The first pair features a crowned eagle device on a blue circular ground. The second pair displays a caduceus symbol on a halved green and red ground, with a border reading JOLLY DIVISION in capital letters. The collection is completed by a decorative wooden wall-hanging rack featuring three carved owls with yellow-rimmed eyes and blue-green wings perched on a simulated branch with four pegs, and a glass floral paperweight containing blue flowers. A pink adhesive price label reading R945W is attached to the owl rack, and a similar label reading K94 is found on the wooden bust.
Condition report:
The brass shell casing shows significant surface oxidation, darkening, and white mineral deposits throughout (photo 1, 4). The wooden bust has light scuffs to the carved edges (photo 4). The owl wall rack shows some minor paint loss and surface dust, with a pink inventory sticker attached to the right side (photo 1). The cufflink presentation cases show light shelf wear and surface marks to the exterior (photo 2, 3). The enamel on the cufflinks appears intact.
