Description
A collection of twenty seven British comic annuals dating from 1970 to 1994. The group comprises multiple titles published by D.C. Thomson and Co. Ltd and Fleetway Publications. The assortment includes The Victor Book for Boys for 1970, 1984, and 1993; The Topper Book for 1973, 1979, 1981, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1990; Whizzer and Chips Annual for 1979, 1981, 1987, 1990, and 1994; and Roy of the Rovers Annual for 1980, 1982, 1983, and 1987. The books are constructed with hardback pictorial covers featuring stylised illustrations typical of the period. Several volumes bear printed logos for D.C. Thomson and A Fleetway Annual. The 1993 Victor annual is notably subtitled Skateboard Cops.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of use and shelf wear consistent with age. Significant shelf wear, bumping, and surface paper loss are visible on the top and bottom of the spines, particularly on the 1987 and 1990 editions of The Topper and Whizzer and Chips (photo 1). The 1970 Victor annual displays pronounced edge wear and staining to the white sections of the front cover (photo 4). Several spines show vertical cracking and creasing to the paper covering (photo 3). Corners are generally bumped and scuffed across the group. Interior pages are not visible for inspection but likely exhibit standard age-related toning.
