Lot 185:
Description
A group of two vintage portable radios including examples by Hitachi and Grundig. The first unit is a Hitachi 3D Super Woofer portable stereo radio cassette recorder, model TRK-7620E, constructed from black molded plastic with metal speaker grilles. It features a three-speaker system with the central woofer bearing white lettering reading 3D SUPER WOOFER across the mesh. The rear panel is fitted with four RCA jacks for line out and CD/auxiliary inputs, alongside two 3.5mm external speaker jacks. It is accompanied by a Hitachi remote control, model CLE-870C, and a red UK 3-pin mains plug. A label to the reverse reads MADE IN SINGAPORE. The second item is a Grundig Yacht Boy multiband radio, featuring an analog slide-rule tuning dial for FM, MW, SW, and LW bands, accented with silver-toned metal trim and a front-mounted tuning knob. The unit is equipped with a black carry handle and top-mounted silver-style control switches.
Condition report:
Both units exhibit visible surface dust and light scuffing consistent with age. The Hitachi unit shows some wear to the white 3D SUPER WOOFER lettering on the central grille (photo 1). The Grundig radio shows white scuff marks on the lower black plastic section (photo 3) and some pitting or tarnish to the silver-toned brightwork and knobs (photo 1). The telescopic antenna on the Grundig unit appears intact but is missing its terminal tip (photo 3). Both units are offered in an untested condition.
