Description
This lot comprises an assortment of two electrical test meters and one 35mm rangefinder camera. The group includes two analog multi-range multimeters manufactured by The Automatic Coil Winder & Electrical Equipment Co. Ltd., London, S.W.1. One unit is marked “MODEL 7 UNIVERSAL AVOMETER” and features a black phenolic resin case with rotary dials and terminal posts. The second meter, also a “UNIVERSAL AVOMETER”, appears to be an earlier variant with dedicated “D.C. SWITCH” and “A.C. SWITCH” controls. Both instruments are fitted with leather carrying straps and detailed instructional plates on the reverse; the right-hand meter’s plate is titled “WORKING INSTRUCTIONS” and “MODEL 7”.
The collection further includes a German 35mm rangefinder camera marked “akA” and “Arette P” in green script on the top plate. The metal body features a silver-tone finish and is fitted with an ISCO-GÖTTINGEN ARETTE 1:2.8/45 lens. The camera is housed in an ever-ready brown leather protective case with a purple velvet-style lining and a leather neck strap.
Condition report:
Both Avometers show significant signs of industrial use and age, including heavy surface dust, oxidation to the metal terminals, and wear to the leather straps (photo 1 and 2). The camera body shows surface dirt and light pitting to the metal finish (photo 4). The leather camera case shows scuffing and edge wear (photo 3). All items are sold as untested; electrical and mechanical functionality, as well as optical clarity, have not been verified.
