Description
A collection of vintage and modern board games and jigsaw puzzles, primarily of British manufacture. The group includes two vintage Monopoly editions by John Waddington Ltd, one featuring a black folding case and the other a separate game box, both marked Manufactured in Great Britain by JOHN WADDINGTON LTD. LONDON & LEEDS. A set of turned wooden chess pieces is housed in a lithographed tin for Cup and Cooking, while a second set resides in a slide-top wooden box. Card games include Lexicon marked JOHN WADDINGTON LTD and Pit marked PARKER BROS. INC. SALEM, MASS. and Waddington. Other titles include a Milton Bradley edition of The Game of Life, Pictionary, Rummikub by J.W. Spear & Sons, and Hullabaloo! by John Adams. The puzzle assortment features examples by Ravensburger, Waddingtons, Falcon, and Gibsons, including titles such as At the Airport, Blenheim Palace, and The Flying Scotsman. Condition report:
The collection is in used, vintage condition with various visible defects. Many cardboard boxes exhibit significant shelf wear, including scuffed edges, torn corners, and surface staining (photo 1). The chess tin shows heavy rust, surface oxidation, and several dents (photo 2). The black Monopoly board case displays edge wear and areas of surface peeling (photo 3). Several puzzle boxes, including the Waddingtons Norge box, show crushed corners and creasing (photo 4). The Pictionary and Hullabaloo! boxes exhibit moderate surface scuffing and edge rubbing (photo 5). Completeness of games and puzzles has not been verified.
