Description

A vintage clockwork powered model cabin cruiser pond yacht, constructed with a wooden hull and superstructure. The vessel features a cream painted upper body and a red painted lower hull, with the interior sealed with a dark bituminous waterproofing material. The deck is fitted with a removable dark wood pointed hatch cover and brass rimmed portholes to the cabin sides. A metal rudder is positioned at the stern, controlled by a spring-tensioned steering mechanism mounted to the rear deck.

The boat is powered by a central brass clockwork motor featuring a series of gears and a mainspring, with a copper toned winding crank visible to the side. The mechanism is connected to a long brass prop-shaft tube exiting through the stern. There are no legible manufacturer marks, branding, or labels visible on the body or the internal clockwork mechanism.

Length: 60 cm (measured from bow to the end of the rudder).

Condition report:

The boat shows significant age-related wear throughout. The paintwork is patinated with various scuffs, scratches, and minor losses (photo 1). The wooden body shows some separation at the seams, particularly around the cabin edges (photo 3). The internal bituminous waterproofing material is cracked and unevenly applied (photo 2). Surface oxidation and grime are present on the brass clockwork mechanism and the external metal steering components (photo 2 and 3). The operational status of the clockwork motor has not been tested.
