Lot 59:
Description
A bronze patinated relief plaque depicting a male profile in a stylised, expressionistic manner. The plaque is constructed from a lighter material, possibly plaster or resin, finished with a dark brown patinated surface to simulate bronze. The subject is shown in a sharp profile facing right, characterised by deep, gestural modelling and a rugged, textured surface. The reverse is hollowed with a darkened finish and shows evidence of the underlying material where the patina has worn. No manufacturer’s marks, artist signatures, or foundry stamps are visible on either the front or the reverse of the piece.
Condition report:
The plaque shows surface wear consistent with age, including scuffing and minor scratches throughout the patinated finish. There are small chips to the patina and underlying material on the bottom edge (photo 1) and the top right corner of the reverse (photo 3). The textured finish is a design feature of the expressive modelling and does not constitute damage. Height: 25.5 cm Width: 21 cm
