Description
A collection of vintage die-cast metal toy vehicles and aircraft predominantly manufactured by Dinky Toys and Matchbox. The group comprises a varied assortment of military, commercial, emergency, and science fiction themed models. The military section includes a Chieftain tank marked Dinky Toys Made in England, an Alvis Striker tracked vehicle, a six-wheeled Armoured Command Car, and a 3 Ton Army Wagon, alongside a small U.S. Jeep. Aviation and science fiction items feature a blue Thunderbird 2 with a removable central pod, a grey MRCA jet aircraft, and a black Batmobile containing a Batman figure. Commercial and emergency vehicles include a red eight-wheel crane, a green Lamborghini Marzal, a Mercedes truck, and various Matchbox Superfast models such as a Blazer 4×4 and a Formula 1 racing car. Many models carry legible base markings including Dinky Toys Made in England and Matchbox Series by Lesney. The vehicles are constructed from die-cast metal with plastic components for windows, interiors, and specific articulated parts.
Condition report:
The collection is in a played-with condition with visible signs of wear across all items. Extensive paint chipping, thinning, and surface scratches are evident, particularly on the Dinky military vehicles and the Thunderbird 2 (photo 1). Several Matchbox models are missing rubber tyres, leaving the metal hubs exposed (photo 5). The yellow plastic crane arm is currently detached from its base (photo 1). The Alvis Striker is missing its original plastic missiles, and the Thunderbird 2 is missing the Thunderbird 4 sub-vehicle normally housed in the pod (photo 3). The white Burmah fuel trailer is detached from its prime mover cab (photo 1). Surface oxidisation and rust are visible on some exposed axle pins and unpainted metal surfaces (photo 5).
