Lot 44:
Sold for: £20
Description
A collection of mineral specimens comprising two pairs of bookends and one polished slice. The lot includes a pair of blue-toned wedge-shaped sections, possibly dyed agate or quartz, featuring polished faces with a crystalline structure and dark outer rinds. A second pair of larger bookends displays a grey and white internal banding, with a gold-coloured metallic finish applied to the rough natural exterior crusts. The collection is completed by a circular cross-section of an agate geode, featuring a central amethystine core surrounded by concentric white and purple banding. These items are crafted from natural minerals with polished surfaces to highlight internal crystal structures and geode formations. No manufacturer labels, signatures, or backstamps are visible on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The items are in good decorative condition with no visible chips or cracks resulting from damage. Minor pits and fissures inherent to the natural mineral structure are visible on the polished faces and rinds (photo 1). The gold-coloured metallic finish on the larger pair of bookends appears largely intact with only minor surface wear consistent with age and handling (photo 2).
