Description

A collection of decorative framed prints and works on paper. This lot comprises a large landscape-format giclée print titled Sam Toft Ernest, Doris, Horace and Stripes, depicting a stylised figure with a group of animals. Also included is a landscape watercolour painting of a rural valley, signed Peter Lord and inscribed Calstock Church in the lower centre. Completing the group are two vertical bird studies: a print of a Little Owl on a branch under a full moon, signed G. Hewton 1988, and a print of a Barn Owl perched on a stump, signed G. Hewton. The works are presented in various wooden and gilt-effect frames with card mounts. The Sam Toft print is a modern giclée reproduction of the original artwork. The G. Hewton owl studies appear to be mid-20th-century prints.

Condition report:

The collection appears in generally good condition. The Sam Toft print and the Calstock Church watercolour show visible toning to the paper and mounts (photo 1). There is minor scuffing and wear to the edges of the wooden frames, particularly on the Sam Toft piece (photo 2). The owl prints are secured in their frames with corner protectors visible on the blue-mounted example (photo 4). No significant tears or water damage are visible through the glass.
