Lot 424:
Sold for: £4
Description
This lot comprises a rectangular wall mirror and a framed landscape print. The mirror features a teak or teak-effect wooden frame with rounded corners and a curved profile characteristic of mid-century design. The mirror plate is secured to the frame by two small metal clips located on the sides. The second item is a framed landscape print by Ronald Folland, titled “HAMLET BRIDGE”. The scene depicts a rural winter village with a stone bridge and church spire, executed in a muted blue and grey palette. It is housed in a light-toned wood frame with a narrow silver-toned inner slip. The print bears a signature reading “Folland” in the lower left corner. The reverse of the picture frame retains two adhesive labels from the Boots Picture Framing Department. One label describes the “MATGLO” processed surface designed to reduce reflection and protect against damp. The second label is printed with “ANOTHER PICTURE FRAMED BY Boots / HAMLET BRIDGE by R. Folland L.A.T.H. / 21”.
Condition report:
Both items are in good condition. The mirror plate is clear and free from visible foxing or silvering loss, showing only minor surface dust and smudging (photo 1). The teak frame is well-preserved. The framed print is well-maintained behind the treated surface. The wooden frame for the print shows some minor scuffs and marks to the edges consistent with age and use (photo 2).
