Description
A group of vintage textiles and personal accessories. The lot includes a large hand-stitched patchwork quilt featuring a repeated eight-pointed LeMoyne star variant motif in green patterned fabric and pink floral print on a white ground, finished with a pink and white checked border. A large rectangular golden-yellow damask throw features floral and foliate patterns with pale blue accents and deep knotted fringing. The textile collection further comprises a white linen square tablecloth with cross-stitch embroidery depicting four oriental style pagodas, and an assortment of linens including pillowcases with crocheted lace edgings, embroidered napkins, and doilies.
Personal accessories include a pair of black binoculars marked Nikon Action on the bridge and center focus wheel, which bears the serial number 264509 and Nikon Vision Japan. A brown leather zippered grooming kit is stamped with gold initials R. J. R. and contains chrome-plated accessories including canisters and soap boxes, lined in tan suede. The lot is completed by two wooden letter openers; one dark wood example with a carved figure and one light-coloured wood example featuring a transfer print of Bideford Bridge.
Condition report:
The textiles show signs of age and use throughout. The hand-embroidered doilies have visible brown age spots and staining (photo 5). The quilt appears generally clean but shows fabric softening from use (photo 2). The damask throw has some loose threads in the fringing (photo 3). The binoculars are dusty (photo 8, 9). The leather grooming kit case shows wear to the edges and minor scuffing (photo 6). The transfer print on the Bideford Bridge wooden letter opener is partially worn away (photo 10).
