Description
A collection of ceramics comprising various British, European, and Asian decorative and functional pieces. The group features porcelain and earthenware items with diverse decorative techniques including transfer-printing, hand-painting, and relief moulding. Notable British pieces include two Royal Worcester oven-to-table oval dishes; one is marked to the underside with a black printed crown and circle logo, “ROYAL WORCESTER FINE PORCELAIN”, “MADE IN ENGLAND”, “OVEN TO TABLE WARE”, “© 1983 ROYAL WORCESTER”, and the pattern name “Wild Harvest”; the second dish bears a similar mark dated “© 1978” with the pattern name “PERSHORE” and hand-stamped purple characters reading “JUNE 21” and “SIZE – 2”. Also included is a white bone china cup with gold rim, marked to the base in gold with a crown and “COALPORT BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND A.D. 1750”.
The collection further contains an earthenware dish marked “Ye Olde Indian Tree 5800 MADE IN ENGLAND”, alongside a large blue and white lidded ginger jar, a cobalt blue vase with gilded avian motifs, and a large footed punch bowl with interior floral decoration. Asian ceramics are represented by a porcelain plate decorated in a Canton Rose style with figural and floral panels, bearing a red six-character seal mark in a square to the reverse and a paper label reading “£3.50 TON ROSE”. Other items include a pierced-border landscape plate, a green pineapple-textured majolica style jug, and various teapots including Willow pattern and hexagonal floral examples.
Condition report:
The collection generally appears in good condition with minor aesthetic wear consistent with use. Light surface soiling and scuffing are visible on several undersides (photos 4, 5, 8, 9). The Canton Rose style plate shows some staining and minor discoloration to the unglazed foot rim on the reverse (photo 8). One of the green and gold teacups appears to have a small chip on the rim (photo 2).
