Description
A collection of vintage costume jewellery components and findings, housed within three grey plastic multi-drawer storage cabinets. The assortment comprises a significant quantity of metal findings, including gilt and nickel-toned earring scrolls, tie tacks, pad bracelets, and adjustable pad rings. Several drawers bear typewritten adhesive labels specifying the contents and original retail prices, such as G.P. & S. Scrolls 40p per pair and Tie Tacks Gilt & Nickel 12p each. The lot further includes a quantity of loose components, featuring large gold-tone floral and foliate brooches, silver-tone circular mounts, and a small box of faceted blue glass or plastic stones.
A substantial portion of the collection consists of small brown paper envelopes containing loose stones, possibly rhinestones or glass crystals. These envelopes are printed with various gemstone names including Amethyst, Emerald, Rose, Sapphire, Montana, Ruby, Jet, and Turquoise. Many of the packets are marked with specific counts or sizes, such as 10 ONLY 10 and 5 ONLY 34. A small adhesive label reading Shobrook & Co 365 Plymouth is affixed to one storage unit.
Condition report:
The lot appears to be vintage workshop stock in varied condition. The grey plastic storage units show visible surface dust and minor scuffing consistent with age and use (photo 1). Several drawers have handwritten or typed paper labels which exhibit yellowing and some edge wear (photo 2). The paper envelopes for the stones show creasing, light staining, and some have torn edges or are partially open (photo 3). The metal findings and loose components appear largely unused, though some gilt finishes may show minor tarnishing (photo 4). One blue plastic box is missing its lid (photo 5).
