Description
A taxidermy specimen of a leucistic or white common pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) presented in a dynamic, descending flight position. The bird is mounted with wings partially spread and head turned, exhibiting entirely white plumage consistent with a leucistic or albino variation. The specimen features a yellow glass eye and a characteristic pheasant head shape with a short, curved beak. The mount is secured to a naturalistic arrangement of bifurcated wood branches, which are attached to a circular, bark-edged wooden plaque base. The base is decorated with a layer of dried moss and lichen material. One branch shows a structural binding of twine or fiber. No maker’s marks, taxidermist labels, or inventory tags are visible on the specimen or its mounting.
Condition report:
The plumage shows age-related wear with separation and fraying of the feather barbs, particularly visible on the primary wing feathers and the long tail feathers (photo 1). A significant accumulation of dust is present across the white feathers and the wooden base (photo 2). The glass eye remains clear and intact (photo 1). Typical drying and minor surface cracking are visible on the beak and the legs (photo 2). The structural twine binding on the branch appears stable but is clearly visible (photo 2).
