Description
This lot comprises two Georgian style bow-fronted chests constructed with mahogany veneers and crossbanded borders. The first item is a bachelor’s chest of drawers featuring a pull-out slide above four graduating drawers. The second item is a tallboy chest-on-chest comprising six drawers. Both pieces are finished with decorative cast brass-effect hardware, including swing handles on oval backplates and circular drop ring handles with floral embossed backplates. The drawers are constructed using machine-cut dovetail joints with polished hardwood interiors. The chest-on-chest features a green fabric lining to the interior of the upper drawers, secured with polished metal studs. No manufacturer’s marks or labels are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
Both items show signs of surface wear consistent with use. The bachelor\'s chest has visible scratches and scuff marks on the drawer fronts (photo 1) and a small chip to the veneer on the bottom front edge (photo 1). The top surface of the chest-on-chest displays several white water rings and heat marks (photo 2). The drawer interiors show an accumulation of dust and light staining (photo 2). The hardware appears to be intact, though one handle on the lower chest is missing its swing component (photo 1).
