Description

A trio of English mahogany reproduction furniture comprising a drop-front bureau, a demi-lune console table, and a two-tier side table. The bureau features a crossbanded fall opening to reveal a fitted interior with pigeonholes, small drawers, and a gold-tooled leather writing surface, above four graduated drawers with brass-tone batwing-style bail handles. An adhesive label in a bureau drawer reads “Shaw of London”. The demi-lune console table is fitted with two drawers and stands on four slender, fluted legs; a circular white adhesive label inside the drawer reads “A Bevan Funnell of Brighton Product Reprodux”. The two-tier side table includes turned supports and a single lower drawer with wooden knob pulls. The items are constructed with mahogany veneers and visible dovetail joinery to the drawer linings. This lot comprises the three furniture pieces only; the green backdrop and other background workshop items shown in the images are not included.

Condition report:

The console table and side table show significant surface wear, including ring marks, finish loss, and scratches to the tops (photo 5 and photo 2). The bureau appears in better condition with minor scuffs and surface marks consistent with use (photo 1). The side table drawer contains two loose wooden blocks, which appear to be detached internal stops (photo 3). The leather writing surface inside the bureau shows minor indentations and wear to the gold tooling (photo 8). No other major structural defects are visible in the photographs.
