Lot 265:
Sold for: £75
Description
This lot comprises a full mount taxidermy specimen of a Barn Owl (Tyto alba), presented in a dynamic, life-like open-wing pose. The owl is depicted in a landing or take-off stance, perched upon a naturalistic weathered wood branch. The specimen features the characteristic heart-shaped white facial disk and dark eyes typical of the species, with golden-buff and white plumage decorated with delicate grey and black mottling. The branch is secured to a circular tiered wooden plinth, which features a textured soil-like ground covering at the point of attachment. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the wooden base, bearing the handwritten numerals 216.
Condition report:
The specimen appears in good overall condition with the plumage remaining clean and the facial disk well-preserved (photo 1). There is minor feather displacement consistent with handling, notably around the lower abdomen and leg feathering (photo 3). The wooden base and branch show no visible structural damage.
