Description

A collection of vintage costume jewellery brooches and accessories featuring a diverse range of mid-to-late 20th-century designs. The lot comprises various flora and fauna motifs, including enamel and rhinestone butterflies, floral sprays, a gold tone running dog, a rabbit with red stones for eyes, and an elephant brooch set with red and clear rhinestones. Seasonal items include a pair of enameled Father Christmas figures. Abstract and geometric designs are present, notably a large bow brooch with blue and green enamel and various gold and silver tone ribbon forms. The assortment includes items featuring multi-coloured rhinestones, imitation pearls, and cabochons of green and brown glass or stone.

Several pieces are accompanied by their retail presentation boxes and cards. One brown velvet box features an interior satin lid printed ‘CARRICK Scotland’. A blue box contains a gold tone tie slide and has an interior lid printed ‘H. SAMUEL ESTB 1862’. A green box is printed to the interior ‘ROBERTSON’S JEWELLERS Ltd. Cornwall’. Other items are presented on original cards including a rhinestone elephant on a ‘Simon Nicholas’ card and two colour-changing pins on cards printed ‘SEA GEMS CORNWALL’. Several gold tone items remain on generic cards printed ‘FASHION BROOCH’.

Condition report:

The items are in good vintage condition overall. Minor surface wear and rubbing are visible to the plating on several of the older gold tone pieces. The enameled Father Christmas pins show slight wear to the painted edges (photo 4). A tangle of loose hair or thread is caught amongst the pins in the centre-left of the group (photo 1). No missing stones are immediately apparent from the photographs.
