Description

A collection of vintage writing instruments including cased and loose ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils. The lot features a Maruman ballpoint pen constructed from gold-plated metal with a fine engine-turned crosshatch pattern, housed in a presentation box with a red velvet-style lining and the brand name Maruman printed in gold-coloured lettering on the interior lid. Also included is a gold-plated Paper Mate ballpoint pen in its original retail packaging, featuring a card backing printed with Paper Mate and USA and West Germany. A group of Parker instruments is present, comprising a Jotter ballpoint pen with a blue plastic barrel and brushed steel cap in a clear plastic case, a textured grip mechanical pencil in a branded clear case, and two sealed Parker Quinkflow ballpoint pen refills in original blister packs. The assortment is completed by several loose ballpoint pens including a black-barreled Parker Jotter and a cased blue textured Paper Mate pen. A worn clear Parker case contains a pen and an original multilingual instruction leaflet.

Condition report:

The gold-plated Maruman and Paper Mate pens appear in good condition with minor surface tarnish visible to the Maruman barrel (photo 2). The loose pens exhibit surface dust, light scratching to the barrels, and minor oxidation to the metal clips (photo 3). The clear plastic Parker cases show significant scuffing, clouding, and surface wear (photo 5). The blister-packed refills remain sealed but show age-related wear to the card backing (photo 4).
