Description
A Plastimo aneroid barometer presented in a maritime porthole style case. The instrument is housed within a circular polished brass frame featuring a hinged bezel secured by two functional butterfly nut swing-bolts. This assembly is mounted upon a stepped circular mahogany-toned wooden plaque with a bevelled edge. The white dial displays black Gothic-style and sans-serif lettering, with an outer scale marked in inches (28 to 31) and an inner scale in millibars (940 to 1060). Weather indications include Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, and Very Dry. The dial is printed with a logo consisting of two stylised P shapes facing each other followed by the word PLASTIMO, and is further marked BAROMETER, MILLIBARS, and INCHES. A black indicator hand is present alongside a brass reference pointer adjusted by a central knob, all protected by a thick bevelled glass crystal. The reverse of the wooden mount features a pre-drilled aperture for wall hanging.
Condition report:
The polished brass case exhibits light surface tarnishing and minor oxidation spotting consistent with age (photo 1). The wooden mount shows a small scuff mark at approximately the nine o\'clock position (photo 1). The glass crystal and dial appear clean and are free of visible cracks or significant damage.
