Description

A collection of art glass paperweights and sculptures comprising eleven pieces of varied studio glass. The assortment includes two large clear crystal freeform plaques featuring intaglio-etched wildlife scenes; one depicts two flying swans amongst reeds and the other a wolf and cub. Both plaques bear the incised signature A Capredoni, with one dated 1997. The lot further includes a smaller clear crystal sculpture with a stylised animal, possibly a ram, bearing a circular gold foil label reading Cristal d’Arques FRANCE. Also present are two textured glass elephant figurines, one of which carries a rectangular gold foil label reading JÖGRENS YSTAD, and a clear glass block with a green internal swirl bearing a label for LISKEARD STUDIO GLASS Hand-made in Cornwall ENGLAND. The collection is completed by five paperweights: two millefiori examples with floral murrine, two clear spheres with controlled internal bubbles, and one egg-shaped weight with a dark green base and suspended gold-coloured leaf.

Condition report:

The collection appears to be in good overall condition with no large chips or cracks visible in the overview (photo 1). The etched crystal plaques show clear detail in the intaglio work (photo 7). Surface wear consistent with age, such as light scratches to the polished bases, is visible on the undersides of the elephants and the glass block (photo 6). The millefiori and controlled bubble weights show no visible internal bruising or external impacts (photos 2, 3, 4).
