Description
A collection of seventeen glass animal figurines and decorative vessels, primarily crafted from clear lead crystal. The assortment features a diverse range of subjects, including a large swan-form bowl, a horse on a textured base, a polar bear on an iceberg-style base, a penguin, several elephants of varying designs, a turtle, and various birds. Three pieces incorporate coloured glass: a fish with green inclusions, a stylised bird with blue and brown swirled details, and a small pig with a light green tint.
Several pieces in the group retain original manufacturer labels or marks. One clear animal figure is etched to the underside with the name ‘Villeroy & Boch’. A polar bear figurine features a gold and black circular adhesive label reading ‘RCR ROYAL CRYSTAL ROCK CRISTALLO AL PIOMBO 24% ITALIA’. The horse figurine bears a silver circular label reading ‘Cristal d’Arques’ and ‘GENUINE LEAD CRYSTAL FRANCE’. One elephant, accompanied by a blue glass ball, has a gold label reading ‘24% LEAD CRYSTAL Princess House Crystal Treasures GERMANY’. The green-tinted pig features a white oval label reading ‘HANDMADE NGWENYA GLASS KINGDOM OF SWAZILAND’, and the blue swirl bird has a silver label reading ‘HANDMADE ISLE OF WIGHT’.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs observed across the pieces (photos 1-26). The original adhesive labels on various figurines show some minor signs of wear and peeling consistent with age (photos 5, 7, 10, 20, 24, and 26).
