Lot 76:
Description
A large circular gothic style chandelier of hoop form, constructed from heavy-gauge black-painted metal, possibly iron or steel. The fixture features a broad, flat metal band as the main frame, supported by a central black-painted metal chain and three angled metal rods. It is designed with eight outward-facing candle-style lights, each featuring a textured, dish-shaped metal drip pan. The chandelier is wired with black plastic-coated cabling that is bundled and runs up the supporting chain to eight brass B22 bayonet-cap lamp holders. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the metalwork or the lamp holders. A pink adhesive label with handwritten numbers is present on the outer hoop, but this does not constitute a manufacturer’s mark. This lot comprises the light fixture only; the mirrors, shelving, and other interior items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The black paint finish shows scattered scuffs, scratches, and areas of wear, particularly along the edges of the main hoop (photo 1). The textured metal drip pans show signs of surface oxidation and a mottled, aged patina (photo 2). The brass lamp holders show some tarnish (photo 1). Dust and debris are present across all surfaces. The wiring appears modern, but as the cable ends are not visible, the full electrical status cannot be determined. Professional rewiring and testing by a qualified electrician is recommended before use.
