Description
A collection of seven items of assorted wooden furniture and domestic accessories comprising tables, storage, and display pieces. The group includes a mahogany style work table with a hinged square top, opening to reveal a deep interior compartment lined with quilted blue satin fabric. A smaller square chest or footstool features a hinged lid and inset reddish-brown leather style panels to the top and sides. The collection also includes a modern style work desk constructed from finger-jointed light oak style wood in a butcher block pattern, featuring a single shallow drawer with a cutout handle and tapered legs. A square games table is included, featuring a marquetry checkerboard top in light and dark woods, supported by four cabriole legs with pad feet. A dark-stained wooden folding occasional table with a rectangular top and X-frame base completes the furniture selection. Additionally, the lot contains two floor-standing magazine racks, one with decorative clover-shaped fretwork and the other with a simple slat-sided design. No manufacturer marks or labels were visible at the time of cataloguing.
Condition report:
The items are in fair used condition with various surface defects. The mahogany style work table shows light surface scratches and wear to the finish, with minor age-related wear to the interior blue lining (photo 2). The modern desk shows typical light wear to the work surface (photo 4). The games table exhibits scuffs to the lower sections of the cabriole legs (photo 5). The folding table shows significant wear and finish loss, particularly to the base and underside of the top (photo 6). The leather style panels on the stool show light surface marking consistent with age.
