Lot 5:
Description
This lot comprises a pair of oillamps designed in the traditional oil lamp style. The lamps are constructed from a polished yellow metal, likely brass or brass-plated steel, featuring tiered circular bases and bulbous font-style central sections. Each lamp is fitted with a white cased milk glass “mushroom” shade and a clear glass internal chimney. The burner collar on each lamp is embossed with a literal inscription in capitalised block letters reading “USE THIS LAMP”. No manufacturer’s name, brand marks, or country of origin labels are visible on the metalwork or glass components.
Condition report:
The polished metal surfaces show significant signs of age and wear. Widespread surface pitting and oxidation with associated loss of the polished finish are visible on both bases and font housings (photo 1 and photo 2). The milk glass shades and clear glass chimneys appear to be intact without visible cracks or large chips in the overview, although the metal font sections show some light surface grime and dust (photo 3). The functionality of the lamps has not been tested.
