Description

A collection of various ceramic, porcelain, and glass decorative objects, primarily of 20th-century British interest. The group includes an assortment of hand-painted porcelain bird figurines, featuring a robin on a wood-effect base with a plaque reading Robin by Leonardo. The lot contains a large quantity of ceramic bells in varying sizes, decorated with floral and landscape motifs, including small topographical examples marked with UK locations such as Looe, Devon, and Great Yarmouth. Notable commemorative pieces include a large porcelain plate featuring the Royal Coat of Arms with a backstamp reading PARAGON, BY APPOINTMENT, A PERPETUAL SOUVENIR IN PARAGON CHINA TO COMMEMORATE THE CORONATION OF THEIR MAJESTIES KING GEORGE VI & QUEEN ELIZABETH CROWNED WESTMINSTER ABBEY MAY 12 1937. A partial tea and coffee service features hand-painted desert scenes with camels, marked to the base GAMEL CHINA, HAND PAINTED with a green crown device. Further items include a boxed set of silver-plated fruit knives and forks with pearlescent handles, two large silver-tone metal trays including one engraved with a coat of arms and dates 1161-1961, several cut-glass bells, and a heart-shaped plate titled My Darling.

Condition report:

The collection is in overall fair condition with visible signs of age and use. One teacup in the Gamel China set has a detached handle, which is present in the lot. There is some minor wear to the gilding on the commemorative plate and tea service. The silver-plated cutlery shows some surface tarnishing and wear to the presentation box. The bird figurines and bells appear largely intact, though some surface dust and minor firing imperfections are present.
