Description

A collection of Royal Worcester porcelain oven-to-tableware featuring transfer-printed botanical studies of various fruits including corn, peaches, plums, pears, cherries, and blackberries. The set comprises several white porcelain serving vessels, each finished with a gilt band to the rim. Included are two oval individual au gratin dishes, a deep circular bowl, a large square roasting dish, three rectangular roasting dishes of varying sizes, a circular service plate, an oval platter, and a small milk jug. The lot also features a single egg coddler in its original presentation box and a set of circular table mats and coasters with a matching large placemat, also in their original boxes. The accessories feature similar fruit designs set within green marbled borders.

The base of the oval platter bears a printed black mark reading “ROYAL WORCESTER FINE PORCELAIN”, “MADE IN ENGLAND”, “FREEZER TO OVEN – OVEN TO TABLE”, “© 1961 ROYAL WORCESTER”, and the script pattern name “Evesham”. One lidded tureen, decorated with a distinct pink rose and grey foliage floral pattern, bears a printed circular mark reading “ROYAL WORCESTER”, “MADE IN ENGLAND”, and “FIREPROOF”, further marked “Shape 23” and “Size 6”. The packaging for the placemats and egg coddler is branded with the Royal Worcester name.

Condition report:

The collection shows signs of use and wear consistent with age. A significant, long horizontal crack is visible running through the centre of the oval platter\'s base (photo 4). There is noticeable scuffing and grey marking to the underside rims of the larger serving pieces (photos 4 and 5). The gilt bands on several rims show localized rubbing and loss. The original presentation boxes for the egg coddler and table mats show shelf wear and scuffing to the edges and corners (photo 1).
