Description

A collection of decorative ceramic and glass wall plates and souvenir items featuring regional folk art and religious themes. The group includes multiple hand-painted ceramic plates from Israel, featuring a circular backstamp reading ARMENIAN A.C. H. WORK with text in Arabic, Hebrew, and English reading Shalom. Other Israeli items include a cityscape plate titled JERUSALEM, a Tabgha mosaic style bowl, and a copper repoussé plate depicting the Last Supper.

European regional items include a large matte black ceramic plate with raised enamel decoration of a couple in bunad dress, hand-inscribed to the reverse 1970 Hardanger. German craftsmanship is represented by two ceramic pieces with black grounds depicting children, each bearing an adhesive label reading Burkart Handarbeit; the rectangular dish also features a silver foil sticker reading Burkart Kunst Keramik. The collection is completed by a large Iznik style plate, a Sevilla souvenir plate, a leaded stained glass roundel depicting seals, and various glass art pieces including a red boat-shaped dish and an etched glass plaque.

Condition report:

The ceramics are in generally good condition with minor surface dust across all items. Crazing is visible on the white-ground Israeli plates (photo 1). The Hardanger plate shows minor scuffing to the matte black finish on the rim and reverse (photo 6). The copper plate shows minor oxidation and surface wear to the enamel decoration (photo 11). The leading on the stained glass roundel exhibits age-related patination (photo 1). Adhesive residue and peeling paper labels are present on the reverse of several items (photo 8).
