Lot 75:
Description
A large wrought iron wagon wheel style eight light chandelier constructed with a heavy circular hoop and eight radiating arms. The fixture features a textured hammered finish to the metalwork, including the drip pans beneath each bulb socket. The chandelier is fitted with eight brass bayonet-cap (B22) bulb sockets, one of which carries an illegible stamped mark to the side. The main frame is painted in a matte black finish. The fixture is suspended by a heavy iron chain and includes vintage black and white insulated wiring gathered by a plastic cable tie. This chandelier is designed for exposed bulbs and is suitable for rustic or Gothic style interiors. Given the age and condition of the existing cables, this item will require professional rewiring by a qualified electrician prior to installation.
Condition report:
The chandelier is in a used condition with visible signs of age and wear. There are scattered areas of surface rust, most notably on the interior of the hammered drip pans (photo 2) and along the edges and interior of the main hoop frame (photo 1). The black paint is chipped and flaked in several places across the arms and wiring supports, revealing bare metal and an older white paint layer beneath (photo 3). The iron chain is heavily rusted throughout (photo 3). One of the interior support hooks on the rim appears to be slightly bent (photo 1). The electrical wiring is vintage and requires full replacement.
