Description

This lot comprises three mirrored wall hangings, including a pair of contemporary square framed prints and one ornate oval wall mirror. The pair of square hangings features monochromatic photographic prints of dahlias, one pompon-style and one waterlily-style, set within recessed shadow-box frames. These frames are constructed with black composite outer edges and inner borders of four bevelled mirror glass panels. The reverse of each square frame is finished with brown paper backing and a wire hanging system secured by metal D-rings. The third item is an oval wall mirror set within an ornate gilt-finished frame, likely cast from a composite material. The frame is designed in the Rococo revival style, decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves, a ribbon-and-bow crest to the top, and a shell cartouche at the base. It is fitted with a brown hardboard backing held by metal glazing clips. No manufacturer labels or maker’s marks are visible on any of the pieces.

Width of the square hangings: 33 cm
Width of the oval mirror: 60 cm
Height of the oval mirror: 48 cm.

Condition report:

The collection is in good contemporary condition overall. The mirror glass on all three items appears clear with no visible silvering loss, foxing, or significant scratching (photos 1, 2, and 3). The black frames on the square prints show no major chips or wear to the finish. The gilt finish on the oval mirror is consistent across the ornate scrollwork, with some light accumulation of dust in the deeper recesses of the casting (photo 4). The reverse of the oval mirror shows minor surface scuffs to the hardboard backing (photo 5).
