Description
A trio of vintage Barbour waxed cotton field jackets including one Gamefair and two Border models. Each garment is constructed from heavy-duty thornproof waxed cotton in a dark olive green, featuring corduroy-lined collars, two-way brass zippers, and branded press-stud closures. The first jacket is a Gamefair model with a black neck label reading ‘Barbour’, ‘GAMEFAIR.’, ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ and features two Royal Warrants; a size tag indicates ‘112cm / 44in’. The second is a Border model (reference A200) with a three-Royal Warrant label reading ‘Barbour’, ‘MANUFACTURERS OF SUPERIOR OUTDOOR CLOTHING SINCE 1890’, and ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’, accompanied by a size tag for ‘C42 / 107CM’ and a large interior ‘BARBOUR CARE’ label. The third jacket is a more contemporary Border model featuring a central white logo on a black label reading ‘Barbour’, ‘Made in England’, with additional tags for ‘BORDER’ and ‘The Original Barbour Tartan’. The linings consist of traditional cotton-mix tartans in green, blue, and yellow colourways.
Condition report:
All three garments show signs of heavy professional field use. The Gamefair jacket (left) exhibits significant surface scuffing, heavy creasing, and localized thinning of the wax throughout (photo 1). The central Border jacket shows significant white \'bloom\' and surface scuffing on the sleeves and pockets, with visible fraying to the cuffs (photo 4). The third Border jacket (right) displays typical creasing and light surface abrasions consistent with age (photo 6). All three items require professional re-waxing to restore their aesthetic finish and waterproof qualities.
