Lot 66:
Sold for: £20
Description
This lot comprises two pond yacht models in different styles and materials. The first is a blue plastic or fibreglass-hulled racing yacht featuring a white and red stripe along the gunwale. The deck is fitted with various metal winches and cleats and includes a printed black mark on the stern deck reading ENGLAND. The sail is numbered K-85 in black. The second model is a traditional wooden yacht with a black-painted V-bottom hull and a weighted deep blue keel. Its natural wood deck features scored black lines to simulate planking. Both models are fitted with wooden masts and spars and are accompanied by textile sails with line detailing. No other manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
Both yachts are in a state of partial disassembly with masts and sails detached from the hulls. The blue racing yacht shows heavy accumulation of dust and grime on the deck and minor paint scuffs to the hull (photo 3). The sails are creased and stained. The traditional wooden yacht has a broken mast, visible in several pieces (photo 2). The sails for this model are heavily yellowed, soiled, and creased. The black hull and blue keel show surface scratches and wear consistent with age and use (photo 2). Rigging on both items is tangled and incomplete.
