Description
A collection of enamel and metal lapel pins, badges, and small jewellery items, primarily dating from the late 20th to early 21st centuries. The assortment features a variety of subjects including charitable organisations, regional identity, and pop culture. Notable pieces include a large square pin featuring artwork from The Beatles Yellow Submarine, an NHS Team UHL rainbow pin, and a circular badge depicting Winston Churchill with the text NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP. Regional interest is represented by several Welsh-themed items, including three square red and green pins with Welsh text, a Wales plume badge, a City of Swansea circular crest, and a County Council West Glamorgan pin.
Charitable and commemorative items within the group include a red poppy pin, two pins supporting the British Red Cross, and a Marie Curie daffodil pin. The collection also includes a Masonic square and compasses pin and stud set, an Eiffel Tower pin, and a Hollywood clapboard pin. The items are housed in a vintage cylindrical tin container with a partially visible label for Simpkins Co. Ltd.
Condition report:
The pins and badges generally appear to be in good used condition with the enamel surfaces largely intact across the collection. Some items show signs of oxidation and tarnishing to the metal reverses and pin backs, particularly visible on the silver-tone gear-shaped badge and the backs of the Welsh regional pins (photo 1). The tin container shows significant interior oxidation, surface wear, and staining consistent with age and storage (photo 1).
