Description

A pair of two limited edition colour lithographs featuring maritime scenes by Peter G. Power. The first print is titled Flying Cloud and depicts a nineteenth-century clipper ship under full sail. It is signed in the plate Peter G. Power 1984 at the lower left and hand-signed Peter G. Power in pencil at the lower right, where it is also numbered 175/450. The second print is titled Engagement between Minerva and Warwick 24th January 1761, showing two naval vessels in combat. This work is signed in the plate PETER G. POWER 1982 at the lower left and hand-signed Peter G. Power in pencil at the lower right, numbered 175/450. Both prints bear an embossed publisher stamp in the lower left margin consisting of a circular device with a seated figure and three rectangular boxes containing the letters B, J, and E. The prints are presented in matching ornate gilt wood frames with green and terracotta double-matting. Each frame retains a wire hanger to the reverse and a framer label, though the text on the labels is not clearly legible.

Condition report:

Both prints appear in good condition with no visible foxing or tearing. There is minor toning to the paper and slight fading to the colours consistent with age (photo 1). The frames show minor shelf wear and light surface scuffs to the gilt finish (photos 2 and 3). The reverse paper backings and wire hangers are intact (photo 8).
