Description
A collection of royal commemorative and decorative glassware. The group features a variety of commemorative items including a pale blue milk glass beaker with a gilded rim and the 1953 coronation crest, and a square white glass pin dish with a heraldic crest and the motto ‘DEO NON FORTUNA’, marked with a clear adhesive label reading ‘Chance Brothers 1824-1974’. Also included are three glass dishes with silver-toned transfer portraits commemorating the 1977 Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and the 1981 marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, alongside two clear glass commemorative tankards.
The decorative pieces include a clear cut-glass vase with a flared rim and diamond patterns, a clear glass centerpiece with etched floral motifs and a central well, and a spherical art glass vase with an iridescent finish displaying gold, purple, and blue splashes over a dark body. A large cobalt blue glass lidded jar is present, bearing a clear oval adhesive label reading ‘Roncam HAND MADE’.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. Visible surface scuffs are present on the lid of the cobalt blue jar. There is evidence of light rubbing and wear to the gilded rims of the commemorative beaker and tankards. The art glass vase features a rough, ground-out pontil mark to the base.
