Description
A portable monochrome cathode ray tube (CRT) television receiver, identified as the Royal Star model. The unit features a metal housing with a textured hammerite style finish in a grey tone, complemented by a red plastic front bezel and a plastic carrying handle to the top. The side control panel is fitted with knobs for Off-On-Volume and Brightness alongside a channel selector dial. The rear of the cabinet features a recessed panel with four adjustment screws for Contrast, White Spot Limiter, Vert Hold, and Horiz Hold.
The top of the cabinet bears a script-style metal badge reading Royal Star. The back panel is embossed with a logo featuring overlapping letters K and B beneath a winged device, with text reading KOLSTER-BRANDES LIMITED, FOOTSCRAY KENT, MADE IN ENGLAND. Technical specifications marked on the rear include 200-250 V ~ 50-125 WATTS. An opening on the side of the cabinet reveals an internal speaker mounted to a wooden board.
Condition report:
The exterior metal cabinet shows significant signs of age and wear, including surface dust, grime, and pitting to the metal trim and handle hardware (photo 1 and 3). The side speaker grille or cover is missing, exposing the speaker cone and mounting board (photo 5). The CRT screen exhibits significant delamination or cataract effects around the edges between the safety glass and the faceplate (photo 2). The power cord is present but shows signs of age (photo 4). This item is untested and, due to its age and visible condition, must be professionally serviced by a qualified technician before any attempt is made to apply power.
