Lot 304:
Sold for: £22
Description
A collection of vintage industrial woodworking and fabrication clamps, including examples by the British manufacturer Paramo. This assortment comprises multiple C-clamps, also known as G-clamps, and several long-reach T-bar sash clamps designed for wide-span clamping. The C-clamps are of heavy-duty cast iron construction with square-threaded steel spindles and sliding tommy bars. Several of these frames are cast with the maker’s name PARAMO and size numbers 4 and 8. The sash clamp components are finished in blue paint and feature perforated steel T-bars. Two components on the sash clamps bear the cast marks MADE IN ENGLAND.
Condition report:
The collection is in used workshop condition with significant signs of age and industrial use. All items exhibit surface oxidation and red rust, which is particularly heavy on the threaded steel spindles and the T-bar rails (photo 1). The blue paint on the sash clamp heads is chipped and worn with underlying corrosion visible. One large C-clamp appears to be missing its swivel pad from the end of the threaded spindle (photo 1). The mechanical operation of the threads is untested and they will likely require cleaning and lubrication.
