Description

A mid-century modern rocket floor lamp featuring a Burmese teak frame and a cylindrical spun fibreglass shade. The lamp is constructed with two long, tapered wooden uprights finished in a dark reddish-brown tone, which support a tall, textured shade made from resin-coated cord. The shade is suspended by four small brass-toned metal spacers between the wooden legs. A circular paper tag is attached to the upper frame via a cord, which reads GENUINE BURMA TEAK and includes further manufacturer text that is partially obscured but appears to end in -ite. The lamp is fitted with a white plastic power cord and an inline torpedo style on-off switch.

The total length from the base of the wooden legs to the top of the shade measures 45 inches.

Condition report:

The lamp is in good vintage condition. The wooden uprights show a consistent finish with no major chips or breaks visible (photo 1). The spun fibreglass shade is intact without obvious crushing or large holes, though there is light age-related yellowing consistent with materials of this period (photo 2). The electrical cord shows minor surface marks and has not been tested for electrical safety.
