Description
A collection of commemorative medallions and coins featuring themes of the British Monarchy and military history. The group includes several heptagonal base metal coins, similar in form to a British 50p piece, each featuring a colour-printed decal. One piece displays a portrait of HM King Charles III in military uniform, with the circular inscription ‘HM KING CHARLES III’ and ‘GOD SAVE THE KING’. Other examples in this shape depict a group portrait of the Royal Family on a balcony, presented on printed cards with the legend ‘LONG TO REIGN OVER US’ and ‘GOD SAVE THE KING’.
Also included are several circular gold-coloured medallions, likely brass or gold-plated, housed in protective acrylic capsules. These commemorate the ‘BATTLE OF BRITAIN 80TH ANNIVERSARY’ and feature colourised depictions of aerial combat scenes involving Spitfire and Messerschmitt aircraft. The medallions bear the dates ‘1940’ and ‘2020’, alongside a Union Jack motif. All items appear to be in as-issued, uncirculated condition.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in uncirculated, as-issued condition with no visible signs of wear or handling to the surfaces (photo 1). The heptagonal coins retain their high-lustre finish and the colour decals are vibrant and intact (photos 2, 3, 4). The Battle of Britain medallions are protected within capsules; the capsules show some minor scuffing to the plastic but the medallions themselves appear pristine (photos 5, 6, 7, 8). Some of the outer soft plastic packaging shows minor creasing (photo 1).
