Description

A collection of cocktail and costume rings in various decorative styles. The lot comprises a leopard’s head dress ring pavé-set with colorless stones and two black marquise stones, a broad triple-row eternity style band, and several cocktail rings featuring large cushion, square, and oval-cut stones in shades of lavender, pink, and chartreuse. Also included is a cluster ring with a dark blue cabochon, a ruby-red cabochon dress ring, and two spherical “disco ball” style rings, one with iridescent aurora borealis finish stones. The metal settings appear largely to be base metal with silver-tone plating, with some pieces showing a darkened or antiqued finish. The collection is presented with a velvet shoe-shaped ring display cabinet and several individual presentation boxes. One dark brown box is printed to the interior lid with a gilt retailer’s mark in a rectangle reading ‘H. SAMUEL FOR FINE JEWELLERY’. A grey circular box contains a pink adhesive label reading ‘51372P’.

Condition report:

The collection is in a generally used condition across all pieces. There is visible tarnishing and wear to the silver-tone plating on several bands, most notably on the large pear-shaped cat\'s eye style ring (photo 5) and the eternity band (photo 2), which shows significant surface scratching and loss of luster. The chartreuse stone setting shows some buildup and minor wear to the prongs (photo 9). The H. Samuel presentation box shows significant age-related wear, including fraying and staining to the silk and velvet lining (photo 2). One circular grey box has a torn hinge but remains functional (photo 6).
