Lot 257:
Sold for: £32
Description
This lot comprises two textile items consisting of one natural single-pelt sheepskin rug and one handmade patchwork quilt. The sheepskin rug is constructed from a single hide with long-staple wool in a natural cream colour, retaining its organic pelt shape. The quilt is a handmade example featuring a Bear’s Paw or Maple Leaf variant pattern. It is composed of cotton or cotton-blend fabrics, utilising floral calico-style prints in shades of teal, rose pink, and navy blue against a cream ground with hand-quilted stitching following the patchwork lines. A small white fabric label is attached to one corner of the quilt, though the text remains illegible. The lot is presented with the quilt contained in a clear plastic zippered storage bag.
Condition report:
The sheepskin rug shows a natural yellowish tint to the wool side consistent with unbleached material (photo 2). The leather underside exhibits some age-related discolouration, yellowing, and minor dark spots (photo 3). The edges show natural irregularities characteristic of a genuine skin. The patchwork quilt appears in good condition with no significant staining, fraying, or holes visible through the packaging (photo 1) or in the unfolded view (photo 4).
