Description
A pair of decorative mirrored art panels featuring screen-printed graphics associated with the British art-rock bands Roxy Music and the Beatles. The first panel depicts a stylized city skyline alongside a classic car and a female figure, beneath the printed text ROXY, which references the cover art of the band’s 1972 debut album. The second panel portrays the Beatles in performance poses amidst a star-patterned background. Both panels are constructed from glass with mirrored backing and are housed in slim aluminum frames with fibreboard reverse panels. In the lower-left corner of the second panel is a printed mark reading Aspell Saggers & Co Ltd 76.
Condition report:
Both panels show significant age-related deterioration to the mirrored silvering, including extensive foxing and oxidisation particularly visible along the bottom edges and corners (photo 1 and photo 4). There are multiple surface scratches and minor areas of loss to the black screen-printed graphics (photo 2). The aluminum frames exhibit minor scuffs and surface oxidation consistent with age (photo 6). The reverse fibreboard panels show typical age-related darkening but remain structurally intact (photo 3).
