Lot 2:
Sold for: £5
Description
A pair of two contemporary oil paintings on square gallery-wrapped canvases, each featuring a close-up portrait of a farm animal. The lot comprises one depiction of a horned ram and one of a white sheep, both executed in a heavy impasto technique with thick, textured brushwork. The palette is composed of earthy tones including browns, creams, and greens, with the paint applied in a highly expressive manner. Both works are signed to the lower right corner in black cursive script; the signature reads as Carr McCann. The canvases are stretched over wooden frames with corner keys and are fitted with eyelet screws and white hanging wire on the verso. The edges of the canvases are stapled to the sides and show minor staining and remnants of the painting process.
Width: 30.5 cm
Height: 30.5 cm.
Condition report:
Both paintings appear to be in good overall condition with the impasto paint layers remaining stable. Minor staining and raw canvas edges with visible staples are present on the sides of both frames (photo 6). There are no visible signs of craquelure, paint loss, or restoration to the primary pictorial surfaces.
