Description
A collection of sewing and sugarcraft supplies housed in various storage containers. The sewing portion includes spools of thread by makers including Dewhurst’s Sylko and Sylko, with colours such as Bright Violet D233 and Gay Kin D417 visible on the labels. The thread is wound on both wooden and plastic bobbins. Also included is a cardboard box of Cosmic Anti-Dust White Chalk No. 282, a small circular wooden pin cushion with painted floral decoration, and various loose buttons and pins. These items are contained within two red plastic partitioned trays and a large clear plastic bag.
The sugarcraft section comprises a large assortment of plastic jars containing food colouring dusts and pastes, with labels identifying varieties such as Gooseberry, Peach, Spruce Green, Grape Violet, Tangerine, Melon, Sugarcel, Ruby, and Cream. Accompanying tools include a white plastic paint palette, floral wire, a small metal sieve, brown floral tape, and a packet of Leaf Veiners. These items are presented in a black plastic tray insert and a large grey plastic Stanley style toolbox with a red handle.
Condition report:
The collection comprises used and vintage workshop supplies. The thread spools show varying levels of use, with some labels being worn or faded (photo 1). The sugarcraft dusts are part-used and several jars exhibit exterior residue and label wear (photo 2). The plastic storage trays and grey toolbox show surface scratches and general wear consistent with use (photos 1 and 3).
