Description
A large collection of vintage sheet music primarily dating from the mid-20th century. The assortment features popular music artists from the 1950s and 1960s, including a copy of “All My Loving” by The Beatles, which is marked with a black and white photograph of the band and the text “NORTHERN SONGS LTD”. Another notable item is “Always on My Mind” recorded by Elvis Presley, featuring a later career photograph and published by “LONDON TREE MUSIC LTD”. The group also includes “Veni-Vidi-Vici” recorded by Dick James on Parlophone Records, published by “DASH MUSIC CO. LTD”, and a piece featuring the name “ALMA COGAN”.
The collection is composed of loose paper sheets printed with cover art, lyrics, and musical notation. Many items bear the addresses of UK publishers, such as “LEEDS MUSIC LTD., 25 Denmark Street, London, W.C.2” and “CHAPPELL”. The sheets are currently arranged in three large stacks within a wooden storage box. This lot comprises the sheet music only; the wooden shelf shown in the images is not included.
Condition report:
The collection shows significant signs of age and handling throughout. Many sheets exhibit fraying, creasing, and small tears along the edges, particularly visible in the lower-left stack. Surface yellowing, foxing, and minor staining are present on several covers. Some sheets are curled or folded at the corners. All items are loose and show heavy wear appropriate for vintage paper ephemera.
