Description

A collection of vintage and antique curios, personal accessories, and metal kitchenalia. The group includes a silver-toned metal cigarette case with an Art Deco engine-turned design, featuring a monogrammed cartouche reading L W B and an internal elasticated strap. Personal accessories comprise a Ronson Varaflame lighter in a silk-lined presentation box marked RONSON VARAFLAME, a gold-toned compact with a transfer-printed rose and text reading Ashes of Roses, a second circular engine-turned compact, a small beaded purse with floral decoration, and a tan leather wallet. Kitchen and dining items include a pair of silver-plated claw-foot sugar tongs, a smaller pair of white metal tongs, a nutcracker, a perforated sifting spoon, and a small metal hammer stamped BLUE BIRD. The lot also features a white clay pipe marked CORONATION PIPE, two small lead animal figurines of a cow and a rhinoceros, a brass model of a Spitfire style aircraft, and several enamel and metal badges including a green circular badge for the BRITISH FIELD SPORTS SOCIETY. A tin box is included, featuring an embossed lid depicting a pastoral or classical scene.

Condition report:

The tin box shows significant surface oxidation and verdigris across the lid and sides (photo 5). The silver-plated items, including the sugar tongs and sifting spoon, exhibit visible surface tarnish and age-related wear (photo 2). The Ronson lighter appears in good condition within its original box, though the interior silk lining shows minor discolouration (photo 2). The Art Deco cigarette case displays light surface scratching and minor losses to the plated finish (photo 6). The leather-bound cases and beaded purse show minor signs of age-related wear to the edges and fastenings (photo 1). The enamel on the badges remains largely intact, though some metal components show minor oxidation (photo 4).
